ServerBeach Attends BlogWorld 2009 in Las Vegas

We’ve just returned home from another amazing BlogWorld & New Media Expo in Las Vegas. ServerBeach was one of the early adopters of BlogWorld, seeing the potential that it had to allow us to connect with the Blogging communities and businesses. From the first years attendance and each year after, we’ve made sure to be there and listen to what these communities are doing and searching for to further their success. We also have the opportunity to meet many of our customers who attend, which is always a great experience!

This years expo was absolutely amazing with over 280 speakers that included Guy Kawasaki, Chris Brogan, Leo Laporte, and so many other great people (you can view the full speaker list with video’s here).

We’re very proud to be a part of BlogWorld each year, connecting and building relationships with the attendees, and we’re looking forward to doing our part to help them succeed. A big thank-you to Patti and others who work so hard to make each years event a complete success.

IBM Tivoli® to EMC2® SAN Backup Service is now available to Beach customers. Until now, this service was only available to PEER 1 (our parent company) Managed Hosting customers. Remote backup allows you to protect your data and avoid critical downtime and losses in revenue, and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your mission-critical data is safe and recoverable. Here’s how it works:

Your data is stored in a remote PEER 1 Data Center located in Atlanta GA, Miami FL or Fremont CA on a high performance storage area network (SAN). YouTube’s Chad Hurley Talks About ServerBeach Hosting Plan

Liz Gannes on NewTeeVee reports on YouTube CEO Chad Hurley who addressed an audience at a recent Startup2Startup dinner in Palo Alto. Chad discussed how YouTube started, including the ServerBeach $129/mo unlimited data plan they used. It was all caught on tape. Here is an excerpt:

ServerBeach had two pipes, one for redundancy, and YouTube was using one and a half of them, with rest of its customers limited to just half of the one left. ServerBeach had a great plan, $129 month for unlimited data. “They weren’t necessarily prepared for a service like YouTube.”

He’s right. We weren’t quite ready for their explosive growth, but found a way to manage. We captured our sentiments in this tongue-in-cheek video send off to the YouTube gang (who btw, loved it!) after they moved their last servers from the Beach over to Google.

ServerBeach celebrates 10,000 Server Milestone

Employees of the ServerBeach San Antonio division partied it up and got their game on at Dave and Buster’s last Thursday to celebrate the ServerBeach 10,000 server milestone. Ted Smith, Vice President of Operations was able to join in on the fun while visiting San Antonio. We had food, drinks, gaming competition and ServerBeach Trivia. Congrats to Team #4 for winning the gaming competition. Jim Bair, DC Ops Technician and previous customer to ServerBeach, won the ServerBeach Trivia with only missing five answers out of 21. Congrats Jim! Some of the trivia questions related back to the beginning days of ServerBeach, such as:

  1. What is the name of the person who founded ServerBeach?
  2. What year was ServerBeach founded?
  3. What was the name of building where the first ServerBeach datacenter and office were located?
  4. What was the name of the first ServerBeach server?

All of the employees sported some cool limited edition 10,000 t-shirts (see pic). The purpose of this event was to recognize a huge accomplishment for ServerBeach and for the PEER 1 company. When PEER 1 acquired ServerBeach 3.5 years ago, SeverBeach had approximately 4,500 servers. We have now more than doubled our server count and tripled in revenue growth. This couldn’t have been done without the hard work from employees all across the PEER 1 organization.
