Need to Learn Linux?

I’ve been using Linux (Debian to be exact) for many years now and it didn’t take me long to realize that the learning is a never ending process. While Windows has it’s place in the real world and is quite simple to use (unless you’re like me and tend to over think everything), I’m just more comfortable using Linux.

I’m sure there are many of you out there who want to play around in the Linux environment whether it’s to learn or just to take a peek and see what it’s all about. To help you out, I’ve put together a short list of websites full of HowTo’s that cover anything from the basics to digging deep into the ‘dark side’ as some call it.

If you know of other sites that would be helpful, please feel free to share. I’m hoping to be able to add a list of HowTos for Windows in the near future.

The Linux Documentation Project
HowTo Forge
Linux HowTos
Must Read HowTos and Guides for Linux
Ibiblio Linux Docs and HowTos

And as always, you can visit our forums and post any questions or search through the HowTos section for information.
I’m aware there are tons more, but this is a quick list off the top of my head. Please share your resources or your own HowTo’s if you have them available, they’ll certainly be put to use!

  1. Hey.. is this Barry or Miggins? Hey guys.. Tweeks here. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just put together a presentation for the local chapter of IEEE that discussed the Linux desktop. One resource that newcomers to Linux want to know about are the Windows/Linux equivalent applications (i.e. App A on Win – App B on Lin). See here:

Hope all’s going well with you all.. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi Tweeks! It’s Charnell Pugsley here. Most of the posts that you’ll find here will be from me. Thanks for the link, I’m sure it’ll come in handy for many! Keep ’em coming! It was great seeing you the other day. I’m keeping an eye on the e-mail list for the next get together lunch!

    Take care!
