500kVA UPS Gets Delivered to Beach’s LA Data Center

A new 500kVA UPS was delivered to our data center in Los Angeles on June 30 2007.  The combination of being in a heritage building and trying to bring in a 6,000lbs (74″h x 32″d x 86″w) UPS unit prove to be quite a feat. A crane had to be driven in and a permit required to block off two lanes. The window on the fourth floor had to be carefully removed so as not to damage the heritage structure and then restored back in original condition. The entire process took 15 building engineers and staff six hours and two attempts to finally get in it. Here are some pictures of the event:
